  • heed — to give careful attention to: He did not heed the warning.
  • take care — a state of mind in which one is troubled; worry, anxiety, or concern: He was never free from care.
  • shun — to keep away from (a place, person, object, etc.), from motives of dislike, caution, etc.; take pains to avoid.
  • avoid — If you avoid something unpleasant that might happen, you take action in order to prevent it from happening.
  • mind — (in a human or other conscious being) the element, part, substance, or process that reasons, thinks, feels, wills, perceives, judges, etc.: the processes of the human mind.
  • notice — an announcement or intimation of something impending; warning: a day's notice.
  • attend — If you attend a meeting or other event, you are present at it.
  • look out — to turn one's eyes toward something or in some direction in order to see: He looked toward the western horizon and saw the returning planes.
  • steer clear of — to guide the course of (something in motion) by a rudder, helm, wheel, etc.: to steer a bicycle.

  • watch one's step — a movement made by lifting the foot and setting it down again in a new position, accompanied by a shifting of the weight of the body in the direction of the new position, as in walking, running, or dancing.
