- plesiochronous digital hierarchy — (communications) (PDH) A transmission system for voice communication using plesiochronous synchronisation. PDH is the conventional multiplexing technology for network transmission systems. The transmitter adds dummy information bits to allow multiple channels to be bit interleaved.
