- ceremony — A ceremony is a formal event such as a wedding.
- intinction — (in a communion service) the act of steeping the bread or wafer in the wine in order to enable the communicant to receive the two elements conjointly.
- consortia — a combination of financial institutions, capitalists, etc., for carrying into effect some financial operation requiring large resources of capital.
- holy sacrament — sacrament (def 2).
- last supper — the supper of Jesus and His disciples on the eve of His Crucifixion. Compare Lord's Supper (def 1).
- marriage — (broadly) any of the diverse forms of interpersonal union established in various parts of the world to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities and including, for example, opposite-sex marriage, same-sex marriage, plural marriage, and arranged marriage: Anthropologists say that some type of marriage has been found in every known human society since ancient times.
