officer — a person who holds a position of rank or authority in the army, navy, air force, or any similar organization, especially one who holds a commission.
gendarmerie — gendarmes collectively; a body of gendarmes.
deputy — A deputy is the second most important person in an organization such as a business or government department. Someone's deputy often acts on their behalf when they are not there.
detective — A detective is someone whose job is to discover what has happened in a crime or other situation and to find the people involved. Some detectives work in the police force and others work privately.
flatfoot — Pathology. a condition in which the arch of the foot is flattened so that the entire sole rests upon the ground. Also, flat foot. a foot with such an arch.
lawman — an officer of the law, as a sheriff or police officer.
meter maid — a female member of a police or traffic department responsible for issuing tickets for parking violations.
