raced — a contest of speed, as in running, riding, driving, or sailing.
ambled — to go at a slow, easy pace; stroll; saunter: He ambled around the town.
darted — a small, slender missile that is pointed at one end and usually feathered at the other and is propelled by hand, as in the game of darts, or by a blowgun when used as a weapon.
hurried — moving or working rapidly, especially forced or required to hurry, as a person.
loped — to move or run with bounding steps, as a quadruped, or with a long, easy stride, as a person.
trotted — (of a horse) to go at a gait between a walk and a run, in which the legs move in diagonal pairs, but not quite simultaneously, so that when the movement is slow one foot at least is always on the ground, and when fast all four feet are momentarily off the ground at once.
