persuaded — to prevail on (a person) to do something, as by advising or urging: We could not persuade him to wait.
tricked — a crafty or underhanded device, maneuver, stratagem, or the like, intended to deceive or cheat; artifice; ruse; wile.
coaxed — to attempt to influence by gentle persuasion, flattery, etc.; cajole: He coaxed her to sing, but she refused.
maneuvered — a planned and regulated movement or evolution of troops, warships, etc.
contrived — If you say that something someone says or does is contrived, you think it is false and deliberate, rather than natural and not planned.
