create β To create something means to cause it to happen or exist.

devise β If you devise a plan, system, or machine, you have the idea for it and design it.
dream up β a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.
fabricate β to make by art or skill and labor; construct: The finest craftspeople fabricated this clock.
fashion β a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing, etc.: the latest fashion in dresses.
fictionalize β to make into fiction; give a somewhat imaginative or fictional version of: to fictionalize a biography.
formulate β to express in precise form; state definitely or systematically: He finds it extremely difficult to formulate his new theory.
frame β a border or case for enclosing a picture, mirror, etc.
fuse β Electricity. a protective device, used in an electric circuit, containing a conductor that melts under heat produced by an excess current, thereby opening the circuit. Compare circuit breaker.
hatch β to mark with lines, especially closely set parallel lines, as for shading in drawing or engraving.
mix β to combine (substances, elements, things, etc.) into one mass, collection, or assemblage, generally with a thorough blending of the constituents.
originate β to take its origin or rise; begin; start; arise: The practice originated during the Middle Ages.
play by ear β a dramatic composition or piece; drama.
prepare β to put in proper condition or readiness: to prepare a patient for surgery.
pretend β to cause or attempt to cause (what is not so) to seem so: to pretend illness; to pretend that nothing is wrong.
ready β completely prepared or in fit condition for immediate action or use: troops ready for battle; Dinner is ready.
trump up β Cards. any playing card of a suit that for the time outranks the other suits, such a card being able to take any card of another suit. Often, trumps. (used with a singular verb) the suit itself.
whip up β to beat with a strap, lash, rod, or the like, especially by way of punishment or chastisement; flog; thrash: Criminals used to be whipped for minor offenses.
wing it β either of the two forelimbs of most birds and of bats, corresponding to the human arms, that are specialized for flight.
write β to trace or form (characters, letters, words, etc.) on the surface of some material, as with a pen, pencil, or other instrument or means; inscribe: Write your name on the board.
