  • bring out — When a person or company brings out a new product, especially a new book or CD, they produce it and put it on sale.
  • bring up — When someone brings up a child, they look after it until it is an adult. If someone has been brought up in a certain place or with certain attitudes, they grew up in that place or were taught those attitudes when they were growing up.
  • come out with — If you come out with a remark, especially a surprising one, you make it.
  • fix up — Informal. a position from which it is difficult to escape; predicament.
  • get together — an offspring or the total of the offspring, especially of a male animal: the get of a stallion.
  • kick off — the act of kicking; a blow or thrust with the foot or feet.

  • carry on — If you carry on doing something, you continue to do it.
  • head up — the upper part of the body in humans, joined to the trunk by the neck, containing the brain, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
  • run the show — to cause or allow to be seen; exhibit; display.
