  • incapacitated — unable to act, respond, or the like (often used euphemistically when one is busy or otherwise occupied): He can't come to the phone now—he's incapacitated.
  • handicapped — Sometimes Offensive. physically or mentally disabled.
  • wounded — suffering injury or bodily harm, as a laceration or bullet wound: to bandage a wounded hand.

  • reefed — a part of a sail that is rolled and tied down to reduce the area exposed to the wind.
  • aground — If a ship runs aground, it touches the ground in a shallow part of a river, lake, or the sea, and gets stuck.
