nonpayment — failure or neglect to pay: His property was confiscated for nonpayment of taxes.
default — If a person, company, or country defaults on something that they have legally agreed to do, such as paying some money or doing a piece of work before a particular time, they fail to do it.
avoidance — Avoidance of someone or something is the act of avoiding them.

in hock — If someone is in hock, they are in debt.
delinquent — Someone, usually a young person, who is delinquent repeatedly commits minor crimes.
in arrears — in arrears, behind or late, especially in payment: She was three months in arrears on her mortgage and credit card payments. Also, Chiefly Law, in arrear.
in the red — any of various colors resembling the color of blood; the primary color at one extreme end of the visible spectrum, an effect of light with a wavelength between 610 and 780 nanometers.
at a loss — If a business produces something at a loss, they sell it at a price which is less than it cost them to produce it or buy it.
