  • hue — a seaport in central Vietnam: former capital of Annam.

verb colour

  • darken — If something darkens or if a person or thing darkens it, it becomes darker.
  • illuminate — to make lucid or clear; throw light on (a subject).
  • infuse — to introduce, as if by pouring; cause to penetrate; instill (usually followed by into): The energetic new principal infused new life into the school.
  • adorn — If something adorns a place or an object, it makes it look more beautiful.
  • blacken — To blacken something means to make it black or very dark in colour. Something that blackens becomes black or very dark in colour.
  • bloom — A bloom is the flower on a plant.
  • burn — If there is a fire or a flame somewhere, you say that there is a fire or flame burning there.
  • chalk — Chalk is a type of soft white rock. You can use small pieces of it for writing or drawing with.
