- We DRANK: 2002 Domaine Bertagna, Hautes Cotes de Nuits (burgundy) $52.
- It's the 2003 Agly Brothers Cotes du Roussillon-Villages and it's classic Denton, classic Verge: rare yet inexpensive.
- Grenache leads the way in this soft, well-made Cotes -du-Rhone.
- If he were living in the Cotes de Nuits, the superlatives would be appropriate, but Phillip Jones isn't Burgundian, not even French.
- Nothing feels token: the Patriarche Cotes du Rhone is there because sometimes you need a fresh, slurpable red.
