  • cease — If something ceases, it stops happening or existing.
  • disappear — to cease to be seen; vanish from sight.
  • precede — to go before, as in place, order, rank, importance, or time.
  • fail — to fall short of success or achievement in something expected, attempted, desired, or approved: The experiment failed because of poor planning.
