bitting — Also called bollard. a strong post of wood or iron projecting, usually in pairs, above the deck of a ship, used for securing cables, lines for towing, etc.
fitting — adapted or suited; appropriate: This water isn't fit for drinking. A long-necked giraffe is fit for browsing treetops.
flitting — to move lightly and swiftly; fly, dart, or skim along: bees flitting from flower to flower.
gritting — abrasive particles or granules, as of sand or other small, coarse impurities found in the air, food, water, etc.
hitting — to deal a blow or stroke to: Hit the nail with the hammer.
