- retreat — the forced or strategic withdrawal of an army or an armed force before an enemy, or the withdrawing of a naval force from action.
- neglect — to pay no attention or too little attention to; disregard or slight: The public neglected his genius for many years.
- run away — to go quickly by moving the legs more rapidly than at a walk and in such a manner that for an instant in each step all or both feet are off the ground.
